Going back to work after maternity leave is tough. Even if you’re desperate to have adult conversation and would rather deal with shitty work issues than shitty nappies, it can still leave you feeling overwhelmed, harassed and lacking in confidence. This session will help you work out some of the practicalities as well as plan for the stuff that’s impossible to plan for. Remi Sade will host Danielle Ayres, Helen Bryce and Ngozi Weller in discussion.

SOPHIE WALKER, YOUNG WOMEN’S TRUST
Sophie Walker is a feminist activist and the chief executive of Young Women’s Trust. Sophie was also the founding leader of the Women’s Equality Party (WEP) which she led until 2019. She is passionate about rebuilding politics for and with women of all backgrounds.
Delivering our keynote speech, Sophie will draw on ways to incorporate activism into our daily lives, converting our anger, confusion and impatience into a force for good.
Sophie will be signing copies of her new book, Five Rules for Rebellion: Let's Change the World Ourselves.

Influencer and author, Candice Brathwaite, discusses her new book, I Am Not Your Baby Mother, with Africa Daley-Clarke. She found herself wondering: "Where are all the black mothers?” The result is her new book - a thought-provoking, urgent and inspirational guide to life as a black mother.

Erin is a writer and performer and a contributor to BBC’s The Social. She is the 2017 winner of the Write to End Violence Against Women Awards. Her poetry celebrates the strength, beauty and resilience of young women, and serves as a reminder that activism comes in all forms. Erin’s performance at our Manchester event was met with huge praise, so we’re delighted to have her join us in York too, for a reading of her poetry.

We’ll have a host of one-to-one sessions available from career coaching to CV advice.
These are on a first come, first served basis and booking forms will be posted out 10 days prior to the event.
We will be operating a off-site crèche, a short walk from the venue.
