10:10 - 10:40 EMPLOYER’S PECHA KUCHA

A carefully-selected bunch of Yorkshire’s finest employers will take to the stage and try to win your hearts and CVs.

They’re looking to recruit parents like you, that want to work flexibly, and want to be valued for their skills and talents - not just their ability to procreate. Huzzah!

10.50 - 11.50 Rock Your Return

Going back to work after maternity leave is tough. Even if you’re desperate to have adult conversation and would rather deal with shitty work issues than shitty nappies, it can still leave you feeling overwhelmed, harassed and lacking in confidence. This session will help you work out some of the practicalities as well as plan for the stuff that’s impossible to plan for. Remi Sade will host Danielle Ayres, Helen Bryce and Ngozi Weller in discussion.

13:20 - 14:10 The ups and downs of motherhood

Nothing quite prepares you for the roller coaster that is motherhood. From the laughter (both joyous and manic), the tears, the tantrums (yours and your toddler’s) through to the ensuing sledge-hammer of an identity crisis, we’re discussing it all with this riotous line-up of talented ladies, all known for telling it like it is. Victoria Cook will host Rosie Ramsey, Emma Conway (Brummy Mummy of Two) and Jessica Jones (The Fat Funny One).

CANDICE BRATHWAITE IN CONVERSATION WITH AFRICA DALEY-CLARKE

Influencer and author, Candice Brathwaite, discusses her new book, I Am Not Your Baby Mother, with Africa Daley-Clarke. When Candice fell pregnant and stepped into the motherhood playing-field, she found her experience bore little resemblance to the photos in glossy magazines. She found herself wondering: "Where are all the black mothers?” The result is her new book - a thought-provoking, urgent and inspirational guide to life as a black mother.

15:00 - 15:20 ERIN MAY KELLY, POET

Erin is a writer and performer and a contributor to BBC’s The Social. She is the 2017 winner of the Write to End Violence Against Women Awards. Her poetry celebrates the strength, beauty and resilience of young women, and serves as a reminder that activism comes in all forms. Erin’s performance at our Manchester event was met with huge praise, so we’re delighted to have her join us in York too, for a reading of her poetry.
